Indoor conservation

The warm months are now behind us as we head into the cooler winter season. With sprinklers put away and irrigation systems winterized, now is a great time to implement water conservation measures in and around your home. Here are some helpful ways to save water (courtesy of regionalh2o.org):

1. Replace older toilets with high-efficiency models.

2. Regularly check for and repair water leaks.

3. Take shorter showers.

4. Install aerators on your bathroom and kitchen faucets.

5. Select Energy Star appliances.

6. Install high-efficiency shower heads.

7. Know the location of your home's master shutoff valve.

8. Wash only full loads in the dishwasher.

9. Turn off the kitchen faucet between rinses.

10. Scrape dirty dishes instead of pre-rinsing with water.
